2019 AGM Announcement

Hi Folks,

The NBFTA AGM will be held on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at the Delta Beausejour Hotel in Moncton, NB. The meeting will be in Room Shediac C and will start at 1pm. Once again, the meeting is being held in conjunction with the Canadian Woodlands Forum Spring Meeting and this year CWF’s 100th Anniversary.

Nominations for Technician of the Year Open

The New Brunswick Forest Technicians Association (NBFTA) is still accepting nominations for the Technician of the Year, this is awarded annually to recognize a member of the Association for outstanding achievement. The award will recognize the achievements or contributions of a forest technician / technologist to forestry. The award shall be awarded only once to an individual.

Deadline for applications is March 22nd, 2019

Nominations
Any member of the NBFTA may be nominated for this award. A member of the Association or a member of the public may make a nomination for this award, nominations shall be e-mailed to contact@nbfta.org Or faxed to 356-4281 (Attention Blair DeGrace). In order for a nomination to be accepted it must be signed by two members of the NBFTA. A resume of the individual being nominated must accompany the nomination.

Evaluation Criteria
A nominee for the Technician of the Year Award shall exhibit the following:
o Is a member in good standing of the NBFTA
o Demonstrate adherence to the code of ethics of the NBFTA
o Demonstrate initiative in progressing forest technical/technological field
o Be recognized by her/his peers as a leader in forestry
o Demonstrate a commitment to continuing education
o Demonstrate a commitment to the NBFTA

Forestry Equipment Contractor Opportunity

Acadian Timber has an immediate opening for forestry equipment contractors to supply equipment to operate on our timberlands located in the Plaster Rock Region of Northwest New Brunswick.
The following mobile equipment is required to operate on a double shift basis:
• Processor and Forwarder

The successful contractors will be accountable to:
• Verify compliance with Provincial Legislation and Company standards.
• Maintain equipment in satisfactory condition to meet established availability standards.

Forest Renewal & Vegetation Management Seminar

On Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 10:00am–12:00pm Forestinfo.ca will be putting on a series of presentations for the Association of Registered Professional Foresters of NB (ARPFNB) & NB Forest Technicians Association (NBFTA) at the K.C. Irving Theatre in Fredericton.

There are no fees for admission. This is a great way to acquire CE credits and meet up with some colleagues!

The 2018 Canadian Woodlands Forum Fall Meeting will be taking place October 17 – 18, 2018 at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Truro, Nova Scotia.

The Canadian Woodlands Forum and our host Northern Pulp Nova Scotia Corp. cordially invite you to attend the 2018 Fall Meeting in the ‘hub’ of Nova Scotia!
